From fishing trips on Long Island Sound to cherished Sunday dinners, food has always been the heart of our family gatherings. In 1929, this love for food became our family business. With his savings, Salvatore Cingari purchased a school bus, filled it with fresh produce and pasta, and traveled to the outskirts of Stamford, ensuring everyone had access to quality food.
In 1943, Salvatore opened the first Grade A Market in Stamford, CT, with the promise that “Grade A” was the only quality he would sell. His sons Dominick, Rocky, and Sam soon joined the family business, and in 1960, they transformed an old ice cream factory into a 4,400-square-foot Grade A Supermarket. Over the decades, the Cingari Family expanded their stores, and in 1991, joined the ShopRite family to offer a wider selection of quality, affordable products.
Today, we proudly continue this legacy, blending tradition with innovation to serve our community in new and meaningful ways.
